Fear

Afraid to try.

Fear of not making it.

Fear of being frustrated.

Fear of disappointment

Fear of failure.

What if you had no choice?

Take fear out of the equation for a moment.

Pretend he doesn't exist.

You would try, wouldn't you?

And what's the worst that can happen?

The worst thing could be that you get a lower result than expected?

The good news is that an underachievement is a mandatory prerequisite for a satisfactory result, and this in turn is a prerequisite for a good result, which also precedes a great result.

So the worst that can happen is that you start your journey toward a great result.

Let's go to the second layer.

Fear to stop being afraid.

What if you got used to not giving a damn about your fear?

For example, you are too afraid of being rejected in an assignment, in a sales presentation, on a phone call, or any other situation outside your comfort zone.

Now, even though you are trembling, you go out there and do what has to be done.

But can you do things with fear?

Of course you do. I "shit" my pants a good part of the time.

I once had to decide to make a 180-degree change in my company. I had to send people out, close down offices, change strategy, and look for new markets. This happened 15 years ago.

I was terrified. But what had to be done was done. I was scared 24 hours a day. Still, things got done. And I'm glad they were done.

Big decisions I call them surgery.

A divorce, a breakup, a resignation, a change of country, an unexpected family breakup, all are extremely stressful events, but after a few years, when we look back on them, despite their enormous importance, they have left us stronger.

You know this because you have experienced great losses.

Fear is a feeling that prevents us from being at least stronger.

If you have to have your "surgery," go ahead and do it. Your legacy will be a much-improved version of yourself. And so it goes.

Attenuating a bit, I remember the first time I gave a lecture.

All the thoughts in the world were terrifying me a week before, and this screaming increased as the date arrived.

Mental storms like "I'll hit the brakes on the spot" , "what if they don't think I'm qualified", "what if I don't please", "what if they ask trick questions" what if..."

"Ca-la - a - bo-ca!"

How much nonsense, my God, how much cretin this little head can generate.

Good thing we all have a second version of ourselves that lurks around letting our internal CEO operate. As the main shareholders of ourselves we pay a great executive to take care of our assets and run the day to day operations.

But this fellow, who loves his job, believes that it is best to do the same, and leave things as they are, and that if he takes a step, nothing can go wrong, because he cannot stand "failure".

This CEO we all know. He goes by the name of Ego. A little fool who thinks only of himself but knows how to operate the machine to some extent.

As masters of ourselves, we must give this fearful, self-righteous little guy a push.

Let's kick our ego's ass and tell it to shut up about its fear of trying.

Will fear end? No, it won't.

So, okay, let's do things with fear anyway. From the ground it does not pass.

We had better decide what leaps to take and battles to face. Tuning up, no one escapes learning.

- Ô Fear, come here... Give me your hand here. Hold on tight. On three, we jump in!

- 1... 2... 3.

- NOW!
